Bill overview
The Aviation-Impacted Communities Act aims to provide increased support and resources to communities near commercial and cargo jet routes. It expands funding for noise mitigation programs under the Airport Improvement Program to include communities not currently meeting the 65-day-night average sound level (DNL) standard. The bill requires the FAA to conduct outreach, establish community boards, and collaborate with the National Academy of Sciences to develop a framework for assessing aviation impacts and creating action plans to address community concerns. Finally, it authorizes grants for noise mitigation measures in designated communities.
