Bill overview
The Secret Service Prioritization Act of 2025 transfers most of the U.S. Secret Service’s investigative duties to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Specifically, the FBI will take over investigations related to certain federal crimes, including fraud, counterfeiting, and threats against high-ranking officials. The Secret Service will retain authority over investigations of threats against former presidents and certain other individuals. This transfer aims to streamline law enforcement efforts and consolidate investigative capabilities.
