Bill overview
This bill, the Stop Foreign Funds in Elections Act, aims to prevent foreign nationals from donating to or contributing funds related to state and local elections, including ballot initiatives, referenda, and recall elections. It specifically expands an existing law that currently prohibits such contributions to cover these additional types of elections. The goal is to safeguard the integrity of these local democratic processes by limiting potential foreign influence. The bill takes effect once it is enacted.
