Bill overview
This bill makes it a federal crime to intentionally stage a collision with a commercial motor vehicle, or to arrange for someone else to do so. Individuals found guilty of staging a collision could face up to 20 years in prison and significant fines. The penalties are increased to a minimum of 20 years if the collision results in serious bodily injury or death. The bill also includes a provision limiting prosecution if a similar charge has already been tried and decided in another jurisdiction.
