Bill overview
The Prevent Illegal Gun Sales Act aims to strengthen the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) ability to regulate and enforce firearms laws. It increases penalties for federal firearms licensees and collectors who violate regulations, expands the ATF’s authority to deny licenses, and allows for more frequent inspections of licensed dealers. The bill also provides the ATF with more resources and tools to investigate and prosecute illegal gun trafficking.
