Bill overview
The Securing our Border Act aims to bolster border security and address issues related to immigration and drug trafficking. It redirects unused funds from the IRS to upgrade nonintrusive inspection technology and construct a border wall along the southwest border. The bill also authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to offer bonuses to Customs and Border Protection agents to incentivize recruitment and retention, and modifies rules regarding the treatment of non-U.S. nationals arriving from neighboring countries.
