Bill overview
This bill, the Economic Espionage Prevention Act, authorizes the President to impose sanctions on foreign adversary entities – specifically China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and the Maduro regime of Venezuela – that engage in economic or industrial espionage, provide support to their national security entities, or violate U.S. export control laws. It limits certain exemptions under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and requires the State Department to report on Chinese semiconductor exports to Russia. The bill also restricts the application of some exemptions related to information imports/exports and personal communications.
