Bill overview
The PROVE Act aims to expand voter registration opportunities for young people. It requires states to establish a process allowing 16-year-olds to pre-register to vote in federal elections, and ensures they are automatically registered when they turn 18. The bill also directs the Election Assistance Commission to provide grants to states to encourage greater civic engagement among young people, including promoting pre-registration and incorporating civic education into secondary school curricula.
