Bill overview
The Kids on the Go Act of 2025 aims to encourage states to improve safety around schools by promoting ‘safe routes to school’ initiatives. This bill modifies a section of federal law to increase the federal funding a state receives for these projects. Specifically, if a state has a designated coordinator working on safe routes to school, the federal government will contribute 95% of the funding for eligible projects. This change is intended to incentivize states to prioritize and invest in safer routes for children to walk and bike to school.
