Bill overview
The WAGER Act of 2025 aims to restore previous rules regarding deducting losses from gambling activities. Currently, the tax code limits the amount of gambling losses that can be deducted against winnings. This bill would reinstate the ability to deduct the full amount of gambling losses, up to the amount of winnings, for taxpayers. It specifically modifies a section of the Internal Revenue Code to remove the existing limitation.
