Bill overview
The Counter Act (COUNTER Act) aims to strengthen the United States’ ability to protect itself from threats posed by unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), often referred to as drones. This bill modifies existing law to expand the Department of Defense’s authority to detect, identify, and neutralize these threats, particularly those targeting critical infrastructure and sensitive locations. It also establishes provisions to protect the methods used to combat these threats and clarifies the application of existing laws to DoD activities abroad.
