Bill overview
This bill aims to clarify and expand the rights of individuals born in American Samoa who are currently considered U.S. nationals but not citizens. It allows these individuals to apply for a U.S. passport recognizing them as both nationals and citizens. The legislation also modifies existing immigration law to streamline the process for obtaining passports for these individuals and removes a specific section related to previous passport procedures. Ultimately, the bill seeks to strengthen the status and citizenship options for people born and residing in American Samoa.
