Bill overview
This bill, the AWARE Act, directs the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to create and release educational materials for parents, educators, and young people about the safe and responsible use of AI chatbots. Specifically, the FTC will develop resources to help identify potentially harmful chatbot use, explain privacy concerns, and offer guidance for parents supervising their children’s interactions with these technologies. The FTC will base these resources on an existing program called Youville.
