Bill overview
This bill aims to reverse a recent rule issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding medications for treating opioid use disorder. Specifically, it seeks to invalidate certain flexibilities that were temporarily implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as expanded access to take-home doses of medication and the use of telehealth for treatment. The bill does not affect the rule’s provisions related to the accreditation of opioid treatment programs. It intends to restore previous regulations regarding opioid treatment.
