Bill overview
The Zero Food Waste Act aims to reduce the amount of food waste in the United States by establishing a grant program run by the Environmental Protection Agency. This program will provide funding to states, local governments, Tribal governments, nonprofits, and other eligible entities to implement various food waste reduction strategies, such as studying waste generation, developing reduction plans, and undertaking projects like differential pricing for waste disposal or anaerobic digestion. The ultimate goal is to achieve a 50% reduction in food waste by 2035 compared to 2015 levels.
