Bill overview
The Crow Revenue Act allows the federal government, the Crow Tribe of Montana, and the Hope Family Trust to exchange mineral interests in Montana. Specifically, the Department of the Interior will accept the relinquishment of a federal coal lease and convey approximately 4,660 acres of subsurface mineral interests to the Crow Tribe, while also conveying approximately 4,530 acres of mineral and surface interests to the Hope Family Trust. Prior to these exchanges, the Crow Tribe and the Hope Family Trust must agree on a revenue-sharing formula for any future development of these mineral resources, and the mineral interests held by the Hope Family Trust will be placed in trust for the benefit of the Crow Tribe.
