Bill overview
The MIL FMLA Act amends the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to provide greater family and medical leave benefits for military families. Specifically, it expands the definition of ‘family member’ to include covered servicemembers, veterans, and other close associates of servicemembers. It increases the amount of leave available to employees caring for covered servicemembers or veterans to 26 weeks within a 12-month period, and extends this leave to federal civilian employees. The bill also clarifies certification requirements for leave related to military service.
