Bill overview
The Securing Energy Supply Chains Act directs the Secretary of Energy to create and maintain a list of entities deemed detrimental to U.S. national security, economic security, or foreign policy. This list, called the Energy Non-Procurement List, will include entities linked to foreign governments, sanctioned individuals, or those involved in the production of critical materials and batteries. The bill also prohibits the Department of Energy from entering into contracts with these entities unless alternative sources are unavailable, and mandates a study to identify overlaps between various government watchlists to improve coordination and prevent conflicting restrictions.
