Bill overview
The Oversight for Members and Relatives Act (OMAR Act) aims to prevent political committees from paying the spouses of candidates or individuals holding federal office for services rendered. It requires these committees to disclose any payments made to the spouses and immediate family members of those individuals. Furthermore, if a candidate or officeholder knew about a violation of these rules, any penalties would be imposed on them, not the committee, and the committee cannot reimburse them for the penalties.
