Bill overview
This bill changes the rules for police pursuits in the District of Columbia. Currently, officers can only pursue fleeing suspects under specific, limited circumstances. This bill repeals those restrictions, requiring officers to engage in pursuits unless a pursuit would be too risky, futile, or could be handled more effectively by other means. It also directs the Department of Justice to study and report on the use of technology to alert the public about active police pursuits.
