Bill overview
This bill, the Territorial Response and Access to Veterans’ Essential Lifecare Act, allows the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to temporarily assign VA physicians to serve as traveling physicians in U.S. territories and possessions like American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. These traveling physicians will provide healthcare to veterans at VA facilities within these locations, coordinating with local non-VA providers to ensure comprehensive care. The VA will also offer relocation or retention bonuses to incentivize physicians to take on this role.
