Bill overview
The LAUNCH Act aims to modernize and streamline the regulatory process for commercial space launch and reentry activities, as well as private remote sensing systems. It requires the FAA to evaluate the impact of current regulations and develop a digital application system. The bill elevates the FAA’s Office of Commercial Space Transportation to a modal administration, establishes a rulemaking committee, and revises the licensing process for remote sensing. Furthermore, it directs the GAO to report on the Department of Commerce’s regulations related to the remote sensing industry and establishes a flight safety analysis workforce.
