Bill overview
The Quick Recognition Act (QR Act) requires officers and employees of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) involved in law enforcement or immigration enforcement to wear a scannable QR code on their uniforms. Scanning the code would direct individuals to a Department of Homeland Security website displaying the officer’s information, including name, badge number, and agency. The website would also include a mechanism for submitting complaints about officer conduct and aggregated, anonymized complaint data. This legislation aims to increase transparency and accountability within these agencies.
