The Community Protection and Wildfire Resilience Act aims to bolster communities’ ability to withstand wildfires by establishing grant programs and requiring reports. It creates a new grant program for developing or implementing community wildfire resilience plans, expands an existing Forest Service grant program to include structure hardening, and mandates the U.S. Fire Administration and GAO to produce reports on wildfire resilience strategies and identify barriers to federal programs. The bill also seeks to improve radio communication capabilities for wildfire management and update maps of at-risk communities.
