Bill overview
This bill creates a reserve fund specifically for the United States Capitol Police to cover employee salaries and necessary expenses during periods when Congress hasn't approved funding for the police. The fund will be initially funded with $50 million and can only be used after a lapse in appropriations and before the lapse ends. Any remaining funds not used by the end of 2026 must be transferred to the Treasury Department. The Capitol Police Chief and Board will oversee the fund's use, and regular reports will be submitted to Congress.
