Bill overview
The National Bridge Funding Reform Act aims to restructure how federal funding is allocated for bridges. It eliminates the Carbon Reduction Program and the PROTECT Program and redirects those funds to a new bridge formula program. This program will distribute funding primarily based on the total deck area of bridges in each state, with a smaller portion allocated based on the number of bridges in poor condition. The bill also updates relevant sections of the United States Code to reflect these changes.
