Bill overview
This bill allows the Department of Energy to transfer ownership of the Moab site, a former uranium mill tailings facility in Utah, to Grand County at no cost once cleanup is complete. The transfer would occur after the Secretary of Energy determines the site is safe for land conveyance, subject to certain restrictions. Importantly, the bill ensures Grand County cannot sell or transfer portions of the land to private entities or nonprofits, and retains necessary water rights for ongoing remediation efforts.
