Bill overview
This bill authorizes the creation of a memorial in the District of Columbia to honor U.S. citizens and legal residents who were victims of crimes committed by individuals in the United States without legal status. The memorial, to be called the American Border Story Memorial (TABS), would be established according to standards for commemorative works, but not through federal funding. Any remaining funds after the memorial’s creation and upkeep would be transferred to the National Park Foundation for future memorial projects.
