Bill overview
This bill, known as Virginia’s Law, creates new civil legal avenues for victims of certain sexual abuse and related crimes. It allows victims to sue perpetrators or those who benefit from their crimes in federal court and recover damages and attorney fees. The bill also eliminates time limits for filing these civil lawsuits, with exceptions for minors and certain specific offenses, and addresses previously barred claims.
