Bill overview
This bill, the Cartel And Radical Terrorist Enforcement Log Act of 2025 (CARTEL Act), aims to increase transparency regarding border security efforts. It requires U.S. Customs and Border Protection to regularly publish detailed statistics on encounters, arrests, and seizures at the border, including data on individuals associated with transnational criminal organizations and those in the terrorist screening database. The Department of Homeland Security will also provide an annual report to Congress assessing the attempts of foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations to enter the U.S.
