Bill overview
The Doctors in our Borders Act aims to address shortages of physicians in underserved areas of the United States by expanding a program that allows foreign medical graduates to practice here. Specifically, the bill increases the number of physicians eligible for a ‘Conrad 30’ waiver from 30 to 100 annually. This waiver program currently allows J-1 visa holders who have completed medical training abroad to temporarily practice in the U.S. without facing the usual two-year return requirement, provided they work in an underserved location.
