Bill overview
This bill establishes the Land Port of Entry Modernization Trust Fund to support improvements at U.S. ports of entry along the border. It will generate funds through transfers from existing customs fees and immigration-related surcharges, as well as new surcharges. The Trust Fund’s money can be used to build new ports, expand existing ones, purchase technology, and hire CBP staff. A board will advise on how the funds are spent and ensure they align with modernization goals.
