Bill overview
The REHIRE Act aims to help career Federal employees who were involuntarily removed from their jobs between January 1, 2025, and January 1, 2027, by giving them a hiring preference for future positions within the federal government. Specifically, these employees would receive an extra 5 points in the hiring process and be considered ‘preference eligible.’ However, the bill excludes individuals removed for misconduct, documented poor performance, or those in political positions.
