Bill overview
This bill, titled Katie Meyer’s Law, requires colleges and universities to provide students facing alleged violations of their code of conduct with access to an advisor. Students will have the option to choose an outside advisor or request an independent advisor from the school. The advisor must be trained on the school’s procedures and provide updates throughout the investigation process. Additionally, the bill updates campus security reporting requirements to include incidents of suicide.
