Bill overview
The Sharked Act of 2025 creates a task force within the Department of Commerce to address the issue of shark depredation – when sharks bite and remove fish from fishing lines. This task force will work to improve communication between fisheries managers and researchers, identify research priorities, and develop strategies to reduce harmful interactions between sharks and humans, including angler behavior. The task force will report its findings to Congress every two years for a period of seven years.
