Bill overview
The Community Bank Representation Act amends the Federal Reserve Act to create a more focused role for the Board of Governors member with experience in community banks. Specifically, it directs the Board Chairman to appoint a member to develop policy recommendations and oversee the supervision of smaller banks (those with less than $17 billion in assets). The bill also adjusts the threshold for community bank supervision annually based on GDP growth and requires this member to appear at semi-annual hearings before Congress. Finally, it mandates consultation between the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council and the designated Board member.
