Bill overview
This bill, the Guaranteeing the States Protection Against Invasion Act of 2026, would give the President the authority to declare an ‘invasion’ at the southern border of the United States. If such a declaration is made, the President could suspend the entry of all aliens who unlawfully enter the country through that border. Additionally, individuals who unlawfully enter during an invasion would be ineligible for immigration relief, and the government would have expanded authority to repel and remove those involved in an invasion, including using federal resources. These measures would be temporary and would cease upon a presidential proclamation that the invasion has ended.
