Bill overview
This bill, the College Employment Accountability Act, aims to ensure that colleges receiving federal student and institutional aid do not employ unauthorized aliens. It prohibits these institutions from receiving federal funds if they violate immigration laws and requires them to participate in the E-Verify program, a system used to verify employees’ eligibility to work in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security will monitor institutions’ compliance with these requirements and notify the Department of Education of any violations or non-participation in E-Verify.
