Bill overview
This bill, the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act of 2025, requires the Department of Transportation to create a rule mandating that new passenger vehicles include the ability to receive and play AM radio broadcasts. Manufacturers would need to install devices capable of accessing AM stations as standard equipment, and would be prohibited from charging extra for this feature. The bill also directs the GAO to study the effectiveness of AM radio in emergency alert systems and requires a review of the rule’s impact every five years.
