Bill overview
The Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act of 2025 aims to strengthen U.S. efforts to counter Iran’s activities by imposing stricter sanctions on foreign entities involved in Iran’s petroleum sector. It requires the President to block property and prohibit transactions related to oil and gas processing, export, or sale from Iran, and to sanction subsidiaries and corporate officers of sanctioned businesses. The bill also establishes an interagency working group to coordinate international sanctions enforcement and authorizes a reward program for information leading to the identification of sanctioned individuals or evasion attempts. Exceptions are included for humanitarian assistance and certain international obligations.
