Bill overview
The GUARD Act aims to help state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies combat increasingly sophisticated financial crimes like elder financial fraud, pig butchering, and general financial fraud. It allows these agencies to use Federal grant funds to hire specialized personnel, receive training on emerging technologies, and acquire necessary tools. The bill also directs federal agencies to produce comprehensive reports on the scope and impact of these scams, including data on losses, perpetrators, and enforcement efforts.
