Bill overview
The SAFE Drugs Act of 2025 aims to strengthen regulations surrounding compounding pharmacies and outsourcing facilities to enhance patient safety. Specifically, it limits compounding pharmacies to no more than 20 similar drug compounds per month and requires reporting of such activities when compounded for patients outside the pharmacy’s state. The bill also mandates biennial inspections of large-scale outsourcing facilities that compound over 100 drug products annually, and adjusts fees associated with these facilities. These changes are intended to reduce the risk of contaminated or improperly compounded drugs reaching patients.
