Bill overview
This bill, the STARS Act, aims to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary by temporarily waiving entrance fees at many national parks and recreation sites. On September 17, 2026, the Department of the Interior and the Forest Service will suspend entrance fees for National Park Service and Forest Service sites, respectively. The Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Reclamation will also waive amenity recreation fees on that date. This is intended to encourage tourism and access to these public lands.
