Bill overview
The Reliable Power Act requires the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to review federal regulations that could negatively impact the reliability of the electric power grid. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (ERO) will conduct annual assessments of the bulk-power system’s ability to meet energy demands, and if a generation inadequacy is identified, FERC will notify relevant federal agencies. These agencies must then review proposed regulations and provide recommendations to ensure they don’t jeopardize grid reliability.
