Bill overview
This bill, the Cape Fox Land Entitlement Finalization Act of 2025, modifies the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act to allow the Cape Fox Corporation, a Native Alaskan village corporation, to receive land outside of its originally designated area for fulfilling its land entitlement. Specifically, it waives a requirement to select land within its traditional township and allows Cape Fox to acquire approximately 180 acres of federal land in the Tongass National Forest within 90 days of the bill’s enactment. Upon receiving this land, the federal subsurface rights will be transferred to Sealaska Corporation, while a public access easement will be maintained.
