Bill overview
The Keep Air Travel Safe Act ensures the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) can continue operating during government shutdowns. It authorizes the TSA Administrator to use specific, previously allocated funds – primarily from the One Big Beautiful Bill – to maintain TSA programs and activities. Funding will be at the same rate as in the previous fiscal year, or a joint resolution if no regular appropriation exists, and will remain available for 180 days after a shutdown begins. This aims to prevent disruptions to air travel security during budget gaps.
