Bill overview
This bill, the RELIEVE Act, aims to make it easier for veterans to receive reimbursement from the Department of Veterans Affairs for emergency medical treatment. Currently, veterans needed to have received VA care within the past 24 months to qualify for reimbursement. This bill changes that rule, allowing veterans to be reimbursed for emergency treatment received up to 60 days after enrolling in the VA healthcare system, as long as they didn’t receive VA care within the preceding 24 months.
