Bill overview
The Strengthening Local Processing Act of 2025 aims to support smaller and very small meat and poultry processing establishments by providing grants, a database of validation studies, and guidance on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans. It increases federal cost-sharing for state inspection programs and the Cooperative Interstate Shipment program, and establishes outreach efforts to states not currently participating in the CIS program. The bill also creates a grant program for career training programs focused on meat and poultry processing, including structured apprenticeships.
