Bill overview
This bill, the Expanding Access for Online Veteran Students Act, aims to make it easier for veterans to pursue higher education online. It increases the monthly housing stipend provided through the Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program for veterans enrolled in fully online programs taking more than half of their courses remotely. Currently, the stipend is capped at 50% of eligible housing costs, but this bill would raise that amount. The changes would take effect starting August 1, 2025.
