Bill overview
This bill, the Supporting Early-childhood Educators’ Deductions Act of 2025 (SEED Act), expands a current tax deduction for educators to include early childhood educators. Currently, kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers can deduct up to $300 in unreimbursed professional development and classroom expenses. This legislation broadens eligibility to include educators working in pre-kindergarten programs, allowing them to also deduct these expenses from their income. The changes will take effect starting in 2025.
